FAQ
how much can my sat or act score increase? How fast?
Students should expect score increases of around 150 points on the SAT, or 3 points on the ACT, after four weeks of study.
Who are the tutors?
Our tutors are experienced teachers who have studied at the highest level of their fields. Some are Brown graduate students in medicine, engineering or biochemistry, and others have taught in inner city schools with Teach for America. They have attained the highest scores in their fields with 5s on AP exams, scores of 750 or above on SAT Subject Tests and 95%+ on State Regents Exams. All SAT and ACT tutors have scored above 2200 on the SAT and above 33 on the ACT. We also take great care in matching students with the right tutor based on the student's personality and interests. Rest assured that your tutor will have extensive experience in your subject and be the right match for you!
what is the apti test-prep program?
Students studying for standardized tests (SAT, SAT II, ACT or AP) follow a systematic program to quickly raise their scores. Students complete a diagnostic problem set to identify areas of weakness, complete targeted sets of practice problems and review these alongside their tutor. Five official practice tests are also provided for use throughout the program - it is recommend that the student at least complete one at the midpoint of their studies and one a week before the exam.
Each session also comes with a summary sheet that explains areas of weakness and ways to improve.
Students receive access to a library of targeted practice problems (such as probability or algebra, sentence fill-in or reading comprehension problems) with video solutions. Dedicated students have as many resources as needed to raise their scores.
The program also emphasizes school skills for success in high school and college - rapid reading comprehension, mental math and time management.
